The curricular internship

Students can do their curricular internship in companies/organizations after the host entity has registered on UniTo portal (www.unito.it) and have stipulated an agreement with the sponsoring institution, the University of Turin.

Beside the signed agreement, each internship requires a training project (“Progetto formativo”) which includes the trainee and tutor’s personal data, the location, the period, the working hours and the learning objectives of the internship.

The curricular internship has an explicit learning purpose and its duration is strictly related to the ECTS/CFU recognized on the students’ career plan.

FAQs

Business and Management students  enrolled in 2019/2020 a.y. or earlier the internship  should complete a compulsory 225-hour internship, corresponding to 9 ECTS/CFU, while students enrolled in 2020/2021 a.y. or later should complete 375-hours internship (15 ECTS).

For clarification please read the Rules and regulations of the Degree Course.

The University grants the insurance coverage to students , both for Civil liability - through insurance companies - and against occupational accidents, through INAIL.

In the event of an accident involving the trainee, within 24 hours the host company should send a communication to the sponsoring institution (the University), by writing an email to infortuni@unito.it  with in cc jobplacement.saa@unito.it  attaching to the email:

  1. medical certification of the work accident issued by the emergency room or by the doctor who has verified the accident;
  2. short accident report.

The host company/organization should be obligatorily registered on UniTo portal and should sign an Agreement for Curricular internships.

It is not possible to carry out a curricular traineeship at the trainee's family-owned company or with any qualified expert if he/she is a student' first-, second-, or third-degree relative.

There must be no family ties and/or relationships between the trainee and the Company Tutor.

Please, refer to the Curricular Internship Regulations for other details.

Curricular traineeships in companies are usually held in face-to-face mode The ordinary way of carrying out the traineeship at the host company is face-to-face mode, unless specifically regulated contingent situations, such as the recent Covid-19 epidemy, lead to the necessity of carrying out the activity in completely online mode, even for a limited period of time.

Mixed mode (partly face-to-face and partly remotely) may be envisaged for particular professional activities for which it is still possible to achieve the training objectives of the internship also through such modality.

The curricular internship does not entails an employment relationship, but it’s a training experience for the students.

Regulations do not provide for a compulsory monthly allowance for the students. Nevertheless, other types of support can be provided, such as lunch vouchers, reimbursement of expenses, access to the company canteen, financial contributions.

These should be clearly mentioned in the Training Project.

All variations to what stated in the Training Project, such as absence (for personal reasons, exams or other), business trips, changes of company tutor etc. should be timely communicated to the Job placement office, sending via email the specific form.

This change must be communicated upon agreement between the company and the trainee.

All variations to the end date of the internship specified on the Training project should be justified and communicated by the host entity to the Job placement office via email before the end-date.

If you are enrolled in a Degree Course with a compulsory internship and you are currently working, doing an apprenticeship in a professional office or you are doing an internship activated by a different sponsoring entity (for instance Employment center, job agencies, Uniimpiego etc.) you don’t have to activate a curricular internship, but you need to file a request for the recognition of this experience to obtain the ECTS. You will have to follow the procedure detailed at the page: Recognition of work activity, apprenticeship, internship activated by a different entity.
